TRENING JĘZYKOWY – READING – SCHOOL – Zadanie 3

A day in high school

High school is an exciting yet challenging chapter of my life. As a student in my second year, my daily routine is full of classes, activities, and opportunities to learn new things. Each day begins early. I wake up at 6:30 a.m., have a quick breakfast, and prepare for school. I leave the house by 7:15 a.m., as it takes about 30 minutes to reach my school. My school is large, with over 1,000 students, and navigating through the busy hallways to get to my classroom can sometimes feel like a challenge, especially on days when our schedule changes.

The first part of the day consists of four lessons, each lasting 45 minutes. My favorite subject this year is English because we are studying both classic and modern literature. I enjoy analyzing stories, discussing their themes, and writing essays about them. However, math is a subject that I find more difficult. This semester, we are focusing on algebra and geometry. While I understand some concepts, others require extra practice. Thankfully, my math teacher is patient and offers additional explanations during lunch breaks or after school.

After the first two classes, we have a 20-minute break to relax, eat a snack, or chat with friends. During the break, the school cafeteria is always crowded, with students lining up for sandwiches, fruit, or drinks. I usually bring my own lunch from home because it’s quicker and healthier. Once the break ends, it’s time for the next two lessons before lunch.

Lunch at my school lasts for 40 minutes, and it’s one of my favorite parts of the day. My friends and I always sit together at the same table, talking about everything from our favorite TV shows to our weekend plans. Occasionally, we play card games or review homework if there’s an important test later in the day.

The afternoon classes are often more interactive. For example, in science, we recently conducted a lab experiment to study chemical reactions. It was fascinating to see how two clear liquids could combine to form a colorful solution. In history, we worked on group projects about major historical events, such as World War II. These hands-on activities make the afternoon lessons engaging and fun, even when I feel a little tired.

The school day officially ends at 3:30 p.m., but my responsibilities don’t stop there. Twice a week, I stay after school for extracurricular activities. I am part of the debate team, where we practice arguing different topics and improving our public speaking skills. On other days, I might visit the library to finish my homework or borrow books for upcoming assignments.

By the time I get home, it’s usually 5:00 p.m. After a quick snack, I start working on my homework, which can take anywhere from one to three hours depending on the subject. Once I finish, I try to spend some time relaxing, whether it’s by watching a show, listening to music, or chatting with my family.

Although high school can be demanding, I feel like it’s preparing me for the future. I’m learning how to manage my time, work with others, and push myself to achieve new goals. Each day is busy, but it’s also rewarding.
